WhatsApp Gold a Malware Trap

Posted by: Timothy Weaver on 05/28/2016 06:02 AM [ comments Comments ]

Making the rounds is a new piece of malware that could potentially affect your mobile device. The scam is urging users to download a so-called "premium" exclusive version of the app called ‘WhatsApp Gold'.

WhatsApp users are reporting the scam which comes with a link that sends the victim to a website that is infected. The scam has an appeal because it offers the victim added features to their app such as video chats, sending 100 pictures at once and deleting messages after being sent.

Clicking the link in the message takes the victim to a malicious site where hackers can track a users activity and steal data.
