WhyIGotInfected? Scans Your Machine for out of Date Programs

Posted by: Jon Ben-Mayor on 01/06/2016 04:38 AM [ comments Comments ]

WhyIGotInfected? is a simple, easy to use program from the author of RogueKiller that scans your computer for out of date programs, plug-ins, Windows Update and more.

One of the easiest ways to get infected is to be out of date on your software. Many hackers are aware of the security holes in old versions and look to take advantage of people who are not up to date. If your Adobe Flash, web browser or Windows Updates are out of date then you're in a good place to be exploited. While that’s still no guarantee, it’s an often overlooked area by many end users.

This small program can scan for these issues and then load the proper web page where you can update your software.

While techs might want this to carry around, it’s really geared more towards the end user to protect themselves before problems arise and that’s a good thing. For what this program does, we would prefer it to be portable.
