According to a blog post by Symantec, cybercriminals have put together a windows malware that can hop over and infect Android smartphones and tablets.
Called the Droidpak mobile banking trojan, it exploits syncing between smartphones and Windows PCs to jump from a compromised PC onto an Android device.
The malware is used to intercept victims' SMS messages. It then relays the info to an attackers server which defeats secondary channel confirmation of fraudulent banking transactions.
Droidpak does the opposite of another strain of malware that was discovered last year by Kaspersky which would hop from an infected Android device and infect a windows PC.
