Broot is a command-line file manager that actually makes terminal navigation bearable—and maybe even enjoyable. Instead of bouncing between ls, cd, and find, Broot gives you a live, searchable tree view that updates as you type. It’s built for people who live in the terminal and want to move faster with less mental overhead.
This isn’t some bloated TUI with 80 panels and confusing key combos. Broot is lean, fast, and minimal by design. You open it, see the full folder structure, and jump straight to what you need.
It will permit you to search for files, attach custom shortcuts, and manipulate them without jeopardizing the target folder's hierarchy. Broot does require a br shell function to be launched and used (admin).
Broot is designed to allow you to navigate a directory with minimum keystrokes, even when you don't recall its location. It is fast and never blocks even when you search a big slow disk (any keystroke interrupts the current search to start the next one).
It is a good idea to head over to the author's site and read through the usage guide for use.
