ShellFolderFix is a handy solution which will rectify Windows not remembering their size and position along with providing you with some additional tweaks and shell enhancements.

All software has annoyances and limitations and your operating system does as well. My number one issue is Windows not remembering where I left a program open. In my case I have a wide monitor and split my web browser and email on the screen but every time I close them, they return to where they were originally. This continues on with other frequently used app like Windows Explorer. Annoying.
Enter ShellFolderFix, which will remember exactly the size and position of your Windows.
The author didn’t stop there. If you want to do some additional tweaking, that is provided. It might be a bit confusing for some users but simply line your mouse cursor over any text for balloon tips. You might consider unchecking the “Show tray icon” option too as it’s not needed unless you constantly want to change your folder settings.
This was written for Windows 7 but tested by us under Windows 10. The zip contains 3 files - ShellFolderFix32.zip for 32-bit systems, ShellFolderFix64.zip for 64-bit systems. Both of these are portable. Extract and run. If you want to install the program then you will want to click on ShellFolderFixSetup.exe.
I noticed on some things, like Windows Explorer, that it will open where it wants then snap to where it left it last. It’s a tad annoying but it gets the job done. The biggest issue for me is that I use my email and web browser sharing the screen half and half and it is unable to remember Chrome and Thunderbird positions so odds are this will only work for Windows applications.
