What is an (Unconfirmed) Crdownload File?

Because your PC doesn't care about Flowers and Candy!

You might have noticed one or more files in one of your folders with a file extension of .crdownload and wondered what it was?

When downloading files with any Chromium-based browser (Google Chrome, Brave, Microsoft Edge, Opera, Vivaldi), including videos, documents, apps, music, and more, the file appears in the folder you downloaded it to. Should the download fail for any reason, including pausing it, the .crdownload file remains as a partial file with the word Unconfirmed and random numbers in front of it.

Video tutorial:

We call this a Chrome Partial Download.

You can check your downloads by clicking on the three dots in the top-right corner and click Downloads or click Show all in the bottom right corner. If you see a file that says Resume/i], then you can resume the download or click Cancel.

If you don't have any pending downloads, then you can safely delete the .crdownload file. If a download has already failed, you can delete the .crdownload file. If you paused the download, you must press Cancel before you can delete it.

In some cases, while mostly pointless, you can rename the .crdownload extension. For example, if you downloaded a partial MP3 file and renamed .crdownload to .mp3, you might be able to play the MP3 partially.

To summarize, you can resume or cancel the download or delete the .crdownload file.
