BreakTimer is an Open Source app that allows the set up of customizable breaks that can potentially help save your eyes from strain.
BreakTimer allows you to configure the schedule as it suits you best. Set how often and how long your breaks should be. You can customize the break message interface by changing the colors and adding personalized messages. It also lets you set your working hours only to be prompted to take breaks outside those hours.
BreakTimer will prompt you when your scheduled breaks are about to start. This fact gives you control over whether to skip or snooze a break if needed. There is also an idle reset that intelligently restarts your break countdown if it detects that you have not been at your computer for a long time.
