GoldBug uses a secure multi-encryption procedure, also called hybrid encryption, with different levels of modern encryption technology from established encryption libraries - such as libgcrypt (known GnuPG) and OpenSSL.

For example, more than eight public/private keys are generated for encryption - based on the RSA encryption algorithms, or optionally ElGamal and NTRU. Furthermore, the application also offers decentralized and encrypted email and decentralized public E * IRC group chat.
