Hashtoolbox is a free software utility to calculate hashes for different files on your computer, Hashtoolbox can calculate files with common hashing algorithms such as MD4, MD5, SHA, SHA-256, and SHA-512.

This utility aims to make it quick and easy to grab hashes for your files for all popular hash types. In addition, the Hashtoolbox software is Open Source and can help you to verify downloaded files to ensure they do not contain any changes.

When downloads get hijacked by malicious adversaries, often the file is modified to include malware such as Trojans, spyware, rootkits, and other threats. Hashtoolbox opens a Command Prompt, followed by a smaller window that takes a minute to open. The Command Prompt window must remain open with you use the smaller box to select a file. Drag-and-drop isn't supported. Once you select a file, you are provided with the MD4, MD5, SHA, SHA-256, and SHA-512 values. Hashtoolbox is easy to use, but lacks the GUI and a few details other similar apps have.
