Image Wringer is designed to 'wring out' an image file making it smaller while remaining usable.
Image Wringer supports most of the standard graphic formats, which it then converts to a JPEG. Once converted to JPEG, you can then resize and change the compression quality through the straightforward UI. Files to be processed are dropped onto the open application and processed individually or automatically.
A single filename can also be pasted into the application, as can a single clipboard image using the paste button. It will check for a picture before a filename.
There is an option to watch the clipboard and set a SendTo link in the Context Menu. There is also an AUTO option. To view, expand the window to the right.
You can observe an image at different quality levels and sizes to decide which will suit your purpose. In some cases, a higher compression setting of 80-100 may be required, but a lower setting such as 40-60 is entirely acceptable for most uses. The critical question is always about how the image is to be used. Many images can be reduced to 30-40 without significantly reducing quality, making a file many times smaller than an image at 90. The difference in file size can be pretty significant.
Image dimension will also make a significant difference. Again the question is how it is to be used.
In normal mode, only a single file will be accepted. The image appears in the application, and changes in size and quality can be observed before finally saving it. Original and processed file size is shown in the application. The viewed image dimensions and the actual image dimensions are shown in the caption bar.
