As we first reported here, a security app called Virus Shield that was in the Google Play list for Android promised one-tap security protection. Security Shield didn't actually protect anything.
Well, Google figures it is better to refund people’s money than to suffer the sting of wrath. At least 10,000 users had paid $3.99 for the app.
Google is issuing refunds to purchasers, and giving them a $5.00 Google Play Store credit. The developer of the app, Jesse Carter, said he would refund people’s money, and that the app upload was a mistake, but Google is not going to wait for him to take action.
