The Battle for Wesnoth is a turn-based tactical strategy game with a fantasy theme. Portable version is also available.
The Battle for Wesnoth has you building up and gradually turning recruits into battle-hardened warriors. In later games, recall your most formidable warriors and form a deadly host that none can stand and defeat. Choose units from a large pool of specialists and hand-pick a force with the right strength to fight well on different terrains against all opposition.
Wesnoth has many different sagas waiting to be played, for example:
