If you need to install or update Windows 10, Microsoft provides the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool to download and burn a Windows 10 ISO to a USB drive or DVD. Even if you've never installed Windows before, the Media Creation Tool makes it simple.

Windows 10 has become very large, so if you want to install it from a DVD, you will most likely need a dual-layer or double-sided DVD. The reason for this is because Windows 10 is too large for a standard DVD. We recommend using a USB drive. You can continue to use your computer regularly while downloading Windows 10. It's also worth noting that we've upgraded Windows 10 by running setup.exe without any need to extract to external media.

Download the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool from MajorGeeks. Sometimes we offer more than one version, so look for the highest version number to get the newest Windows 10 build.

Double-click on the file you downloaded to begin and wait a few minutes for the app to start. Click on Accept to agree to the notices and license terms.

On the next screen, click on Create installation media, then click on Next. (If you want to upgrade, click on Upgrade this PC now and follow the prompts).

Next, you can select the Language, Edition, and 32 or 64-bit. The Media Creation Tool will determine the best options for you, but if you want to make any changes first uncheck Use the recommended options for this PC. Click Next.

On the next screen, you can choose which media you want to use. You can burn the ISO to a USB flash drive or even save the ISO to your drive to transfer or burn with your favorite burning software later. Note that you need to have at least an 8 GB drive, and any data on that drive will be deleted. Insert your flash drive and click on USB Flash drive. Click Next.

Next, you can Select a USB flash drive by selecting your drive from the list and clicking on Next. If you don't see your drive, you can refresh the list or remove your drive and try another USB port.

The Windows 10 Media Creation Tool will now need to download Windows 10. Time varies, but the whole process could take as little as 10 minutes.

Next, we continue to wait while Windows 10 copies all required files to your flash drive.

The next screen will let you know that Your USB flash drive is ready. Click on Finish.

When you're ready to install Windows 10, insert your thumb drive and reboot.
