The Microsoft Windows 10 Media Creation Tool is a popular app for people to download the latest Windows 10 ISO to their computer. There are a handful of errors that can appear causing the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool not to work. Here are the steps to fix these errors, or better yet, download the latest ISO's a different way.

1: Different Ways to Download Windows 10 ISO's

One of the most frequently seen error codes is 0x80072f76 – 0x20016. While we can solve your errors, it's just easier to download the ISO's differently and be done with it.

If you don't want to download another app, here's how to download the Windows 10 ISO images directly in Google Chrome and download the Windows 10 ISO images directly in Mozilla Firefox.

Fido is a free Powershell script to download any image you need. Fido is easy to use, but we have a video guide available.

If you don't want to use PowerShell, there are two other apps that you can use. Each one also has a video tutorial embedded on the download page. They are Microsoft Windows and Office ISO Download Tool and Windows 10 ISO Download Tool. Both are top-rated, so flip a coin and try one.

Are you still looking to solve that error message? Here are some steps you can try.

2: Delete the $GetCurrent, $WINDOWS.~BT, and $Windows.~WS Folders

The $GetCurrent, $WINDOWS.~BT, and $Windows.~WS folders are hidden folders that contain either installation files and or logs from the last Windows 10 update process. Assuming you have no pending Windows Updates, it should be OK to delete and might solve your problem. Follow the steps in this guide - What Are the $GetCurrent and $WINDOWS.~BT Folders and How to Delete Them. $Windows.~WS isn't covered in the guide but can be deleted when you delete the $WINDOWS.~BT folder.

3: Try the Windows Update Troubleshooter

The Windows Update Troubleshooter can often find and repair the problem. It's certainly an easy fix to try.

4: Check For Pending Windows Updates

Pending or stuck Windows Updates have caused plenty of problems. Sometimes a reboot works, otherwise go to the Control Panel and check for updates.

Otherwise, here's how to delete pending Windows Updates.
