NR is another acronym that you can find on social media or text messages. Here's what NR means, where it came from, and how to use it.
NR means "No Reply" or "No Response."
NR is a way to let someone know that you won't be replying any further, usually on social media or text messages. It is used to let someone know that you won't be available, and it is very similar to AFK.
NR can be used as upper or lower case and, interestingly, has a more recent history compared to most acronyms or slang. The origins go back to Snapchat, and NR was only added to the Urban Dictionary in 2007.
Snapchat features “streaks” to encourage continuous text chains with others by messaging them daily. NR was the perfect way to let someone know that you were done with that "Streak."
