What Is the MSOcache Folder and Can I Delete It?
By Timothy Tibbetts |
You may have noticed a hidden folder on your hard drive with the name MSOcache. What is the MSOcache folder, and can you delete it?
You can find any answer you want on the internet, but if you use Microsoft Office, then the answer is no, don't delete this folder.

The MSOcache folder is a temporary folder for Microsoft Office. The files in this folder can be used to detect and repair problems, maintenance, and installation of service packs and patches.
While you can delete the folder, any of the tasks mentioned above will take longer.
If you're looking to free up hard drive space, the MSOcache folder will be created again as needed, and files will return.
Instead, consider using Storage Sense to Delete Junk Files in Windows 10 or find a better drive cleaner.
If you use Microsoft Office, we have seen nothing but problems after deleting the MSOcache folder, so once again, leave it alone.
