DiskMark enables benchmark testing of your disk and hard drive performance.
It includes a few options that will allow you to accurately determine what the performance level of your hard drive is by learning the reading and writing speeds. You can configure the test parameters by choosing which disk you wish to target, buffer size, and the number of times the file size is written on the disk. While DiskMark is running through the process, you are provided with a color-coded performance graph highlighting any fluctuations as well as the values for average, last, minimum and maximum reads and writes. Once completed, you are given the results including total disk time, average MB/s, last run and the minimum/maximum MB/s compiled for the whole test process.
DiskMark is quite simple to configure but provides a good deal of information about your hard drive(s) performance, and since it is so simple and lightweight, it will be a viable option even for novice users wishing to see what their hard or removable drives can handle.
