Micro Hosts Editor is small and easy to use and is provided as an Open Source app that will allow you to edit your Hosts Files easily.
Editing the Hosts file with Micro Hosts Editor is as follows, in the first column, IP-address, you must enter a valid IP address (i.e., 127.0.0.1), and in the second Hostname, the Hostname (i.e., localhost). Both IPv4 and IPv6 are supported. Multiple hostnames are allowed in one entry. Use a space as a separator. Quotation marks or wildcards are strictly prohibited. Commentaries are also forbidden and will be automatically removed.
To add a new row, start typing text in the last cell. To edit a cell's contents, double-click on it or press the F4 on your keyboard. To remove the currently selected row, click the Delete selected row button on the main toolbar, or press the Delete button on the keyboard. You can select and remove multiple rows at once. There is an extensive online help section for reference.
If you want to edit a Hosts file as a plain text file, click Open in the text editor in the Advanced menu. The file will be loaded with a selected (or system default) text editor.
Micro Hosts Editor makes the process of changing the address of a local server a breeze, and you can also block specific sites from redirecting, etc.
