What is MPC Video Renderer and What Does it Do?
MPC Video Renderer is designed to deliver exceptional, high-quality video rendering, compatible with any DirectShow multimedia player, such as Media Player Classic Home Cinema/Black Edition (MPC-HC and MPC-BE). Notably, it only offers full support for Media Player Classic – Black Edition (1.5.5.5342+).
A video renderer's primary function is to process video file sequences frame by frame and transmit each frame to the video display controller. This capability allows video players to effectively present content on your computer screen.
MPC Video Renderer is optimized to deliver exceptional video quality, making it an ideal choice for those who prioritize visual clarity. It is recognized for its efficient performance, allowing it to manage high-demand video formats and resolutions effectively without overloading your system resources.
Setup, Configuration, and Deployment of MPC Video Renderer
Deploying MPC Video Renderer on a Windows system is relatively straightforward.
● Extract the ZIP and copy it to C:\Program Files
● Run both of the following files as Admin:
-Install_MPCVR_32.cmd
-Install_MPCVR_64.cmd
● Open MPC-HC / MPC-BE
● Go to Settings > Video > Video Renderer, then choose MPC Video Renderer
● Once you have selected MPC Video Renderer, click on Properties
● Set the "Request for Super Resolution" to <1440P (this way, any video that is less than 1440P in quality will be upscaled using RTX Super Resolution for a much better quality). Additionally, ensure that you click on the box labeled 'RTX Video HDR'
● Finally, remember to set Windows to use the NVIDIA graphics card for MPC by going to Settings > System > Display > Graphics > Add Desktop app. Then navigate to the location where MPC-HC / MPC-BE is installed. Once you have added it, set the GPU preference for that app to High Performance. Also, ensure that you enable RTX Super Resolution and set the quality to Auto or 4 (highest quality)
MPC Video Renderer is compatible with Windows versions later than 7, with Windows 8.1 or higher being recommended. It requires a system equipped with an SSE2-capable CPU and a DirectX 9 video card, with DirectX 10 or 11 preferred for enhanced performance. Additionally, for Windows 7 users, it is essential to have the D3DCompiler_47.dll file installed for the renderer to operate correctly. This file can be obtained through the KB4019990 update for Windows.
Geek Verdict
MPC Video Renderer stands out as a premier choice for enthusiasts of MPC-BE and MPC-HC, delivering stunning high-quality video output and exceptional performance. Packed with remarkable features like HDR support and RTX Video Super Resolution, it elevates your video playback experience to new heights, making it an indispensable tool for anyone seeking unparalleled visual enjoyment.
