WinExt Registry Fixer is a freeware app that promises to clean and repair your registry.

Before evaluating WinExt Registry Fixer, we want to remind people that registry cleaners will not help their performance, contrary to every registry cleaning program's claims. They rarely fix problems. They can cause problems. But, people love to clean their registry. If you're having serious registry issues, consider a program that can repair your problems, like Windows Repair. So, why would we add this software to MajorGeeks? Because people like registry cleaners, this one is free and works as well as any other cleaner. Finally, most people don't bother reading, and even fewer make it this far.

One feature that we like is the ability to choose what problems you want to repair. However, we don't understand why there is a recommended option when that setting is next to the Uncheck or Check all option. We'd also prefer to see a more conservative cleaning mode option than an option that does nothing.

Also missing is a backup option, something that should be automatic. There is an option to Export to a file, which exports the results to a text file. We do recommend you back up your registry first.

Using the program is easy, and it found 363 issues (in only 8 seconds) compared to the more conservative CCleaner, which found 75 issues. It's difficult to tell which works better because there are always hundreds of registry entries that can safely be deleted.

The registry cleaning debate and comparisons are always heavily debated. That said, we had no problems with our computer after cleaning out 363 issues.

WinExt Registry Fixer is freeware, and we had no issues running it.
