ATM is an acronym you could see almost anywhere online or in text messages. Here is what ATM means.
ATM means "At The Moment."
Of course, ATM could also mean an Automated Teller Machine, but it's rare to see anyone use that as an internet or text message acronym. Generally, atm lowercase would mean "at the moment," and uppercase ATM would mean "Automated Teller Machine."
Like most acronyms, atm appeared in the 1990s and 200s on message boards and internet messaging apps, including Yahoo! Messenger and ICQ, added to the popularity to let people know what you are doing or that you're busy. Similar status updates include AFK and IRL.
Atm first appeared in the Urban Dictionary in 2002, including another x-rated possibility.
