The internet is full of acronyms, and GTG is one you might come across in conversations with friends, family, or colleagues.

GTG means "Got to Go"

GTG is a way to let someone know you are leaving the conversation, usually with urgency.



GTG is most frequently used on social media and text messages. At the time of this article, there is no smartphone emojis for GTG.

Some people might also use GTG as an acronym for "Good to Go".

The difference should be obvious, depending on the conversation.

Got to Go: During a conversation, you might say, "GTG, have a doctor's appointment."
Good to go: Maybe someone is coming to pick you up, so you could reply GTG acknowledging you're ready.
