Brave is a web browser based on the Chromium source code to give you a faster and more secure, private browsing experience. Brave now offers BAT, or Basic Attention Token, as an optional way to earn tokens (Crypto) and support content creators. Here's how to enable or disable BAT.

BAT goes by a couple of names, including Brave Rewards, BAT, Basic Attention Token, Brave private ads, or Rewards.

Brave Rewards gives you the option to view first-party, privacy-protecting ads while you browse (these ads are from the Brave Private Ads network). You earn BAT via the Brave Rewards program if you choose to view them.

You can keep Brave Rewards like any other crypto asset or use it to tip the content publishers you love. Brave even gives you a secure way to store BAT (and any other crypto asset) with Brave Wallet.

While Brave Rewards isn't bad for publishers like us, the program is optional. Here's how to opt-out or opt-in of BAT in the Brave browser.

How to Enable or Disable Brave Rewards in Brave Browser - First Installation

If you just installed Brave for the first time, a small window appears to give you the option to hide or use Rewards. It's not very helpful, so be sure to check the steps below.

Click Start using Rewards to get started.

To hide Brave Rewards, click on the three dots in the top-right corner, and click Hide Brave Rewards.

How to Enable or Disable Brave Rewards in Brave Browser

Everyone should check all of the following settings, especially if you want to entirely disable Brave Rewards.

Type in brave://settings/ in a new tab.

Click on Brave Rewards on the left.

Check or uncheck any of the items you see to suit your needs. To disable Brave Rewards, uncheck every orange box you see.

How to Enable or Disable Brave Rewards Toolbar Icon

Click on Appearance on the left or type in brave://settings/rewards in a new tab.

Check or uncheck Hide Brave Rewards button.

How to Enable or Disable Brave Wallet Toolbar Icon

Click on Wallet on the left or type in brave://settings/wallet in a new tab.

Check or uncheck Show Brave Wallet icon on toolbar.

How to Enable or Disable Brave Rewards Sponsored Images

Open a new tab.

Click on Customize.

Check or uncheck Show Sponsored images.

How to Enable or Disable the Crypto Widget

Open a new tab and click on Edit Cards.

Scroll down and check or uncheck Hide.

While we find the Brave browser intriguing, they should have included a one-stop opt-out option.
