Add Open With Notepad Context Menu gives you the option of opening any file type with Microsoft Notepad in the Context Menu by right-clicking on any file and then clicking on Open With Notepad.

Anyone who has used Notepad is familiar with the minor frustration of needing to select All Files to open any file that isn't a text file in Notepad. This simple Registry hack allows you to open any file type in Notepad by simply right-clicking on it.

You can edit the registry yourself or download the registry files - Add 'Open With Notepad' Context Menu.

Open Regedit, copy and paste to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT*shell into the address bar.

Right-click on Shell and click New > Key and name that Open with Notepad.

Right-click on Open with Notepad and click New > Key and name that command.

Double-click on Default on the right side while you've highlighted your new command key.

Enter notepad.exe %1 in the Value data box.

When finished, it should look like this:

You're all set. If you change your mind later, delete the Open With Notepad, which will, in turn, remove the other key you created.

Of course, you could always back up your registry first or download the registry files, which includes a remove registry file.
