How to Turn the Game Bar on or off in Windows 10

Most Windows 10 users have a feeling one way or another about the (Xbox) Game Bar. But, what if you use it occasionally? In this tutorial, we show you how to turn the (Xbox) Game Bar on or off as needed.

Note - Older versions of Windows 10 called it Xbox Game Bar. Microsoft renamed it just Game Bar.

We can turn the Game Bar on or off using Settings or registry files. If you never use Game Bar, you might consider uninstalling the Xbox Game Bar.

1: Turn On or Off Game Bar Using Settings

Click on Start > Settings > Gaming.

Click on Game Bar.

Toggle on or off Record game clips, screenshots, and broadcast using Game bar.

1: Turn On or Off Game Bar Using Registry Files

While we don't mind editing the registry, turning the Xbox Game Bar on or off requires two edits, making using registry files easier.

Download from MajorGeeks and extract the two files:

Turn Off Xbox Game Bar.reg
Turn On Xbox Game Bar.reg

Double-click the reg file you want.

Click Yes when prompted by User Account Control.
Click Yes when prompted by Registry Editor.

Click OK when prompted by the Registry Editor.
