After updating Windows 10, you might encounter an error in the Windows Store that reads, Something unexpected happened, Error code 0x80070520. Here are some possible fixes.

1: Microsoft Store Error 0x80070520 - Run Troubleshooter

The Windows Store App Troubleshooter should fix the error as a known issue.

Click Start > Settings > Update & security > Troubleshoot.

Scroll down on the right and click on Windows Store Apps.

Click on Run the troubleshooter.

Wait while the troubleshooter looks for known problems.

If any problems were discovered, they are almost always fixed automatically.

2: Microsoft Store Error 0x80070520 - Clear Store Cache

Press the Windows key + X and choose Windows PowerShell (Admin). Right click on that and Run as administrator.

Type in wsreset.exe. and press enter.

Be patient and wait until you see the flashing cursor again, so you know that the cache has been cleared.

3: Microsoft Store Error 0x80070520 - Delete Software Distribution Folder

Note that removing the Software Distribution folder will delete your Windows Updates history and cause the next Windows Updates to take longer than usual for the first time, and Windows redownloads everything you removed.

Open a elevated command prompt and type in the following two lines, and press Enter after each:

net stop wuauserv
net stop bits

Each command should take a few seconds, so wait until you see the messages that the services were stopped successfully. Leave the command prompt open for now.

Navigate to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution and open the folder. Press CTRL + A to select all files and folder, then press the Delete key. All the files in the SoftwareDistribution should be deleted. We don't want to delete the folder itself.

Rebooting will start the two services we stopped, but if you don't want to reboot, open up the command prompt again and type in the following two lines, and press Enter after each:

net start wuauserv
net start bits
