What Is the Perflogs Folder in Windows?

While browsing your hard drive with you might have seen a folder called PerfLogs and wondered what it was and if you can delete it.
Windows 10 collects data about your computer's performance and stores this information as log files in the hidden PerfLogs folder. PerfLogs is short for Performance Logs.

When your computer runs into a problem, and you might be surprised how often that happens, that information is saved and can be useful if you need to run a troubleshooter.
You can get an in-depth report of your log files using Windows Performance Monitor. Press the Windows Key + S, type in, and click on Performance Monitor. You can poke around here, but you can find the best information by expanding Reports > System > System Performance or System Diagnostics and clicking on your computer name. There's a wealth of information here to help you diagnose problems.

A question often asked is if you can delete the PerfLogs folder. You can safely delete the PerfLogs folder. However, Windows will create the folder again. Some drive utilities, including CCleaner and Privazer, can safely delete the log files for you. There's no reason to delete the folder.
