Cobian Reflector is a freeware backup program used to schedule your backups either local or via FTP/sFTP and is the successor to Cobian Backup, one of our perennial favorites.
Cobian Reflector has all the features of it predecessor but it is completely rewritten in .NET and adds has support things like SFTP transfers, DPI independence and also behaves as a 64-bit/ 32-bit program.
You can choose to choose and design your local backups as you like of local backup you like, either file-specific or whole directories, and choose where you would like them to go. Typically you would use an external backup drive, but with Reflector, you can upload your backups to a server via FTP or SFTP, giving you an excellent off-site cloud option. You can either choose full, incremental or a differential backup.
The way Cobian Reflector backups are designed is perfect in several ways. First it uses a volume shadow copy service for the backup - increasing speed and integrity. On our seriously old test system, we backed up over a Gig of data in a minute. Not too shabby. The backup folders are named with the full date and time stamp, making it easy to keep multiple versions.
Also, cloning backup tasks makes life a bit easier as well. For example, you can choose your 'Pictures' folder to back up to 'MyBackup.' Once that task is set, you can clone the backup task and set it to daily, weekly and monthly.
Cobian Reflector is freeware and can be used for free even in a commercial environment. The Author Accepts direct Donations via PayPal to help with the project.
