Free YT Downloader combines many of the features found in other open-source apps while maintaining a simple, easy-to-use interface for any skill level.

Once you copy and paste a URL to a website with the video you want to save, the app will first retrieve the information for you. You can play or open the file location directly. You can then choose to download your target as a video or audio. The small arrow to the right of both options allows you to convert the file to other formats, including:

In our tests, we found that Free YT Downloader can use some work on websites besides YouTube. Our attempts to download videos from Facebook or DailyMotion failed as the app tried to get the information and returned nothing, not even an error or suggestion. YouTube is the king of video streaming websites, and it appears they put most of their effort into YouTube. Other websites we tested worked as well, including Twitter.

Free YT Downloader overall works well and is simple to use. One feature we'd like to see is the app recognizing clipboard entries to simplify the process even more.
