MacType brings many macOS-style fonts to your Windows PC.

After MacType is installed, you have to make a few choices. The first setup screen might initially be overwhelming, but the big decision is to run MacTray as a service or manually. Manual might be safer, whereas Service Mode is recommended by the developer and runs MacTray as a service. We chose Service Mode, then Load with MacTray, and found the experience to be seamless.

On the last screen, you can choose a profile, the system-wide profile for the font you want to use.

While it might be easier and safer to download different fonts for your computer, MacType brings in many fonts that you can't normally find for Windows.

MacType is currently a Release Candidate or beta. We had no issues using it, and this Release Candidate is expected to be the final release before the stable version is released. We do recommend you have a backup of your computer just in case.

MacType has numerous uses for everyone. It's not uncommon to find hard-to-read fonts in Windows, and MacType may solve this problem for you. It also might be nice for anyone with vision problems.
