Microsoft Authenticator for Android is a two-factor authentication option designed to be simple, fast, and highly secure. It can be used across different applications and provides additional account management options for your Microsoft personal, work, or school accounts.

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) gives you an additional layer of security. When enabled, after entering your password during login, you'll be asked to prove it's you by entering a one-time password (OTP) generated by the Microsoft Authenticator app or approving a notification sent to the app. The OTP codes have a 30-second timer so that you don't have to remember the number and never have to use the same time-based one-time password (TOTP) twice. The OTP doesn't require an internet connection and won't drain your phone's battery. You can use a fingerprint, face ID, or a PIN as the second authentication method. This two-step verification process provides additional security for your Microsoft account. Once you've signed in with 2FA, you can access all your Microsoft products and services, such as Outlook, OneDrive, Office, and more.

The Microsoft Authenticator app is a handy tool to help you autofill passwords. To get started, sign in to the Passwords tab within the Authenticator app using your personal Microsoft account to sync passwords, including those saved in Microsoft Edge. You can then set Microsoft Authenticator as your default autofill provider, and it will automatically fill in passwords for you on apps and websites you visit on your mobile. Your passwords are safe and secure as the app uses multi-factor authentication. To access and autofill passwords on your mobile, you will need to verify your identity using your fingerprint, face ID, or PIN. The app also allows you to import passwords from other password managers like Google Chrome.
