Facebook users continue to share memes or posts, warning you that Facebook has a new algorithm that limits your news feed to 25 or 26 people. Here's what we know about the "new" Facebook algorithm.

The posts can vary slightly in wording, and the number of friends limited. For example:

Thanks for the tip to circumvent Facebook... Works!! I have a whole new profile. I see posts from people I didn't see anymore. Facebook's new algorithm picks the same people - around 25-who will see your posts. Hold your finger anywhere in this post and click " copy ". Go to your page where it says " what you're thinking ". Tap your finger anywhere in the empty field. Click paste. This is going to circumvent the system thanks
Hello new and old friends!
Drop a single hello, thanks.. Hello

We do know a few things for sure.

1: These posts are a hoax dating back to January 2018 when Facebook announced that they were making changes (they call it improvements) to how posts are shown.

2: Snopes has already debunked this claim and confirmed it with Facebook.

3: Nobody understands the Facebook algorithm. Large companies, including Facebook and Google, want to keep their algorithms secret. If everyone knew how they worked, people would exploit them for spam and marketing.

You might remember that these posts began with memes in 2018 and now are almost all copy and paste posts:

According to Facebook, copy and paste posts are much harder to remove than memes.

The good news is that there's no harm in making these posts, but they are a waste of everyone's time.
