Microsoft is adding Eco Mode to the Windows 10 Task Manager. Eco Mode can reduce the CPU load on most processes by reducing the process's priority, resulting in a faster, more energy-efficient computer.

Eco Mode has appeared for Windows Insiders in Windows 10 Build 21364.1000 and should be available to everyone in the next Feature Update, due out soon.

Note that applying Eco Mode runs the risk of instability for certain processes. You should only apply it to processes that are using a lot of CPU. If you run into any problems, disable Eco Mode for that process.

Video tutorial:

Open Task Manager.

Right-click on any process under the Processes or Details tab.

Click on Eco Mode.

Click Turn on Eco mode.

You will see Eco mode under that status of any process, allowing you to spot what processes are using Eco Mode.

To disable Eco Mode, right-click on any process and uncheck Eco Mode.
