Windows 10, by default, comes with the Chromium-based Microsoft Edge. If you'd like to block the installation, you can by editing the registry.

Before you start, there are a couple of considerations.

1: The newer Microsoft Edge is excellent. It will take many years before people shake off the horrible reputation of the old Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge.
2: There's a good chance that Microsoft will override or make this registry edit obsolete each time there's a feature update.

Open the registry editor and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft

Look for an EdgeUpdate key under Microsoft.

If you don't see it, right-click on Microsoft and click New > Key and name that EdgeUpdate.

Right-click on EdgeUpdate and click New > DWORD (32-bit Value) and name that DoNotUpdateToEdgeWithChromium.

Double-click on DoNotUpdateToEdgeWithChromium and change the Value data from 0 to 1.
