Microsoft WordPad stores a list of recently used documents you can access when you click on the File tab. You can remove some or all of your document history in the registry. Here's how.

Clear Recent Documents History in WordPad With a Registry File

Download Clear Recent Documents History in WordPad and extract Clear ALL Recent Documents in WordPad.reg.

Close Wordpad and double-click on Clear ALL Recent Documents in WordPad.reg.

Click Yes when prompted by User Account Control.
Click Yes when prompted by Registry Editor.

Click OK when prompted by the Registry Editor.

This tweak is included as part of MajorGeeks Windows Tweaks.

Clear Recent Documents History in WordPad Manually

Video tutorial:

You can always clear your document history manually by deleting one registry key or delete only the saved document history you want.

To delete your entire document histry, open the Registry Editor and go to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\Wordpad\Recent File List. Right-click on Recent File List and click Delete.

Removing specific documents is also easy. Open the registry path from above, and you will see a list of your history, each named File 1, File 2, File 3, and so on. Look to the right under Data and right-click on the File name associated with that document and click Delete.
