What Does ICYDK Mean?

By Timothy Tibbetts

on 06/15/2023

The internet is full of acronyms, and ICYDK is one of many you might not recognize or understand, and that's OK.

Acronyms are abbreviations of words used to cut down on the time it takes to type. Acronyms are often typed and easier to understand when typed in capital letters.

There's no shame in seeing an acronym you don't recognize, and it's happened to everybody (or it eventually will).

Some longer acronyms, including ICYDK, aren't something you can pronounce as easily as LOL, so don't expect to hear someone using it in real life.

ICYDK means “in case you didn’t know"

For example, ICYDK, you're out of Jack Daniels

It also can simplify saying "in case you don’t already know,” or “in case you haven’t heard," for example.

Another similar acronym to know is ICYMI, which is the acronym for "in case you missed it."
