Stop Windows From Prompting to Delete a File
By Timothy Tibbetts |
Windows will protect you from accidentally deleting a file by prompting you before you delete a file to the Recycle Bin. Here's how you can easily disable the prompt before deleting a file.
For example, Windows will show you a prompt that asks, "Are you sure you want to move this file to the Recycle Bin?"

By bypassing the prompt, your files will go directly to the Recycle Bin.
Right-click on the Recycle Bin on your Desktop and click Properties.
Uncheck the box next to Display delete confirmation dialog.

If the option to uncheck is grayed out, you can edit the Registry.
Open Regedit and go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
Right-click on the right screen and click New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.
Name the new DWORD ConfirmFileDelete and confirm the Value data is 0 by double-clicking ConfirmFileDelete.
If you'd like to delete a file without using the Recycle Bin, another trick is to hold the Shift key when deleting a file.
