w/e is something you may have come across in conversation on the internet (social media, chat rooms) or messages. Here's all you need to know about w/e.
w/e is he acronym for whatever.
Whatever is used to show disinterest in something.
It's one of the only acronyms that is used as lowercase and with a backslash in it. You might have seen j/k (joking), for example. It has evolved over the years from w.e and w e. eventually landing on w/e. It first appeared officially on the Urban Dictionary in 2002 and again in 2003.
We never really appreciated it or used it. By the time you get the backslash involved, you could have typed whatever.
