Your Virus & Threat Protection Is Managed by Your Organization
By Timothy Tibbetts |
When opening Windows Security and Windows Defender, you may come across an error that reads, "Your Virus & threat protection is managed by your organization."
Before you proceed, it's almost always worth rebooting to see if the problem clears up.
1: Delete a Registry Entry
Open an elevated Command Prompt and type in:
REG DELETE "HKLMSOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftWindows Defender" /v DisableAntiSpyware
If that key exists, you will be prompted before the key is deleted, and your problem should be solved.
You can also manually delete DisableAntiSpyware by opening regedit and going to ComputerHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftWindows Defender
Keep the Command Prompt open for later if that didn't solve your problem.
2: Verify Services Are Running
Press the Windows Key + R and type in services.msc. Windows Defender Antivirus Service should be set to Automatic. If not, double-click on it and change the Startup Type to Automatic and click Start followed by OK.
2: Re-Register DLL Files
Open an elevated Command Prompt and try typing in each of the following, one at a time followed by Enter after each.
regsvr32 softpub.dll
regsvr32 wintrust.dll
regsvr32 initpki.dll
regsvr32 wups.dll
regsvr32 wuweb.dll
regsvr32 atl.dll
regsvr32 mssip32.dll
