RecoveRx is a freeware app to recover erased files, including digital photos, documents, music, and videos from hard drives, memory cards, MP3 players, USB flash drives, external hard drives, and solid-state drives.
RecoverRX is small in size and has a simple, easy-to-use, step-by-step interface to walk you through recovering files.
RecoveRx will not save to the drive you are scanning, so you'll need a backup hard drive or even a thumb drive.
Follow the steps beginning with selecting the drive to scan, save recovered files, and even if you only want to scan for a specific file type, including documents, photos, video, or others. Our tests showed that a 1GB drive could take 30 minutes to one hour to scan. You can abort the scan at any time.
RecoveRx is an excellent freeware choice to try to find lost files.
Of course, the question everyone will ask is, "how well does it work?" Data recovery can be hit or miss, but within minutes of scanning our backup drive (that has never been scanned), 139 files were found, and we recognized many of them. So, to answer that question, RecoveRx is worth trying out. We certainly would.
