How to Turn Off Sound Effects in Windows
By Jon Ben-Mayor |
Windows has various sound effects that are activated when carrying out different actions. Although some may find these sounds pleasing, others may find them irritating or would like to customize them. In this How To, we'll show you how to turn off sound effects in Windows. Below we will walk you through the steps to turn those sounds off.
First off, right-click on the speaker icon in the bottom right corner of your screen and select Sounds from the menu.

From there, you will select Playback Devices from the menu. Find your speakers or headphones in the playback devices list and click on them to choose.

Then you will click the Properties button. In the properties window, select the Enhancements tab and find the Disable all sound effects checkbox.

Check the box and hit OK. All your sound effects will be disabled. Remember the steps in reverse to enable them.
If you wish to disable sound effects temporarily, you can utilize the mute function on your speakers or headphones. This will silence all sounds, including sound effects until you decide to unmute them. Ah, silence!
