Windows 10 has a feature called Optimize Drives that allows you to analyze and defragment your hard drives. You can also enable or disable a schedule to optimize your drives. This tutorial shows you how to add Optimize Drives to the Context Menu using our registry files or manually editing the registry.

How to Add Optimize Drives Context Menu in Windows 10 - Registry Editor

Advanced users can edit the registry manually. There are numerous steps and editing involved, so again, we recommend you download our registry files.

Here are the step-by-step instructions:

Open the Registry Editor.

Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell
Create a new SubKey named dfrgui
Create a new String on the right named MUIVerb. Change the Value_date to Optimize drives
Create another String in the same location named dfrgui.exe
Create another SubKey under dfrgui named Command
Change the Value_data of Command to dfrgui.exe

If you change your mind later, delete the dfrgui SubKey.
