Windows 10 Update Switch can disable or enable Windows 10 updates including choosing which metered connection you use. A portable version is available as well.
Whether you're a tech looking to simplify the process, a less savvy user who can't find the settings, or discovered that Microsoft once again has moved or hidden the settings to disable Windows update, Windows 10 Update Switch can do the job for you.
If you need to manage which metered connection downloads updates, you can choose from Mobile (3G or 4G), Ethernet, and Wi-Fi. There's also a permissions section where you can stop Windows 10 from turning on updates, but it also requires you download Subinacl.exe from Microsoft. Subinacl is a command-line tool that is necessary to manage this permission.
Preferences allow you to clear cache on exit, and enable logging.
All that said, when you're ready to shut off Windows Updates, click the big old "Disable Windows Updates" button, reboot and you're done. Change your mind? Start the app and click on "Enable Windows Updates." That's all. Keep in mind that Windows may turn it back on later because, well, it's Windows.
Windows 10 Update Switch makes enabling or disabling your Windows Updates for Windows 109 free, quick, and simple.
