How to Easily Benchmark Restart Time in Windows 10 & 11 With a VBS File

By Timothy Tibbetts

on 09/18/2022

Have you ever wanted a simple way to see how long your computer takes to restart? This information can help you benchmark your computer when optimizing your startup items.

While Windows 10 & 11 keeps track of your restarts in the Event Log, it's not very intuitive. You can also download benchmark apps or even use Windows Experience. Instead, we have created a (Visual Basic Script) VBS file that makes the entire process fast and fun for any skill level. While it's not as in-depth as a benchmarking app, it does simplify the process. This script will work in Windows 11, 10, 8, and 7.

Download Benchmark Restart Time in Windows 10 & 11 With a VBS File from MajorGeeks, and extract 'Restart Time.vbs'.

Video tutorial:

Close all running applications, and double-click on Restart Time.vbs.

Click Yes to begin. Your computer will now reboot.

Once your computer has completely restarted, a window will appear with your restart time.

Remember that restart time includes how long it takes to launch all background and startup items, so it usually takes a minute to appear.

Click OK to close the window.
