Turn Off Monitor Only on Demand is a batch file that turns off your monitor with a simple double-click.

We love this option because we can walk away from our computer and quickly turn the screen blank, instead of waiting for the monitor timer to turn off. Laptop and tablet users can benefit from longer battery life too.

This batch file calls a PowerShell command.

Download Turn Off Monitor Only Batch File and extract Turn Off Monitor Only MajorGeeks.bat.

Double-click Turn Off Monitor Only MajorGeeks.bat.

Your screen will now go blank.

Another option, shown in the screenshot, is to create a shortcut to the batch file and change the icon. Right-click on the shortcut and click on Properties.

Click on Change icon, and choose from one of the available icons. If no icons are available type in %SystemRoot%\System32\SHELL32.dll next to the Browse button, and click OK.
